TAFE SA staff and students have been celebrating their success at the recent Young Australia Productions (YAP) Awards.

The Film and TV department at TAFE SA Adelaide Centre for the Arts won two awards - Best Film and Best Performance - and Tea Tree Gully Campus won one for Best Visual FX/Animation.

The short drama Love You Mum won Best Film for Director Dave Ockenden and Producer Matt Pearson, and Best Performance for the South Australian actress Bridget Walters as the inimitable Sister Evans.

TAFE SA Tea Tree Gully Campus students Carl Heron and Hanna Broughton won Best Visual FX/Animation for the animated film What A Drag.

The challenging and dramatic Love You Mum deals with the controversial issue of euthanasia, produced as a final production by second year diploma students in 2006.

Lecturer of Film and TV and Supervising Producer of Short Dramas Colin Reck said the awards will raise the profile of graduating students as well as TAFE SA.

'The Film and Television department are very pleased with the result, as it recognises the high standard of production that was achieved by our students in 2006 - only the second year that our diploma course has run,' he said.
