ABOUT US
About us
Welcome to THE PAR’TY
Every politician suggests they are progressive but it’s impossible to be a reformist, when you’re constrained by the party machine and the dominate political narrative that has controlled our system for decades.
So when we say we’re ‘progressive’ what does it mean and look like for you?
Our aim is to run candidates in the local government, state and federal environments.
Whilst policy is crucial and all decision will be based on empirical analysis, we don’t debate policy ad nauseam.
We will always remain positive and play the policy, not the individual. Our candidates will NEVER criticise another person. They will always focus on the outcome.
Our primary goal is small government.
We will deliver less complexity, less duplication, reduced fees and clean up the system BUT do this from the inside. Not through endless talking, through action.
We MUST present a platform that is appealing to young Australians. It’s a non-negotiable.
So how does this look in practice?
Generally speaking, independent candidates have failed, not because they are not good people, but because the modern system is so complex it’s impossible to enact meaningful change on your own. The work load is too great.
Secondly, most independent members are driven to be career politicians and so yield to the political machine. The political machine dictates the narrative and how the scenario plays out. It’s deliberate and hasn’t changed in decades. As a result, the predominate paradigm is adversarial, complex, confusing, boring, negative and supported by the media who feed, not off solutions, but from division. That’s not how we operate.
Our candidates are not career politicians who strive for power to appease factional alliances. They are sacrificial in the sense that they are there to get the ‘job done’.
Our approach is disruptive because we refuse to play politics like it’s always been played. We will refuse to debate issues ad nauseam, in preference to “….NO, it makes no sense, we’d like this done please.”
Kind regards
Dean Logan

Key platform messages (draft)
Ensure candidates get elected by starting at the local government level, and as a voting block, dismantle the local government system from within.
Reduce the size of bureaucracies. Victoria’s bureaucracy as an example, has increased 60% in tens years. It’s not sustainable and it has to change.
Peel back huge amounts of duplication and RED TAPE.
Realign nation building policies / priorities and focus expenditure on these.
For example, genuinely design a manufacturing policy and reign in defence. Defence spending needs to increase, but inefficiencies and incompetence must first be addressed.
Highlight to Australians that across a raft of policies, we actually don’t need more money.
What we need to do, is ‘evaluate’ policy. It’s time to evaluate and take out the rubbish.
TP members will not, at any stage, hold a ministerial portfolio.
Doing so captures the member and constrains their influence. It’s a mistake.
We will allow major political parties to continue to control key portfolios like Defence, Foreign Affairs etc.
Our aim is not to CONTROL because we value power, but to REFORM because we value people and community.
Highlight that everything we do, is focussed on and is driven by one key principle: to create a better future for generations to come.
Key policies (draft)
Local Government
Dismantle and downsize local government.
Take local government back to roads, rates and rubbish thereby transferring key policies like planning and environmental policy back to the State.
Reduce red tape, complexity and duplication thereby reducing fees and charges for rate payers and ensuring local government is more community focussed.
State Government
Abolish payroll tax
Adopt and implement concerns raised by consecutive Auditor General’s in and around the Emergency Services Levy.
As an example, in WA the ESL is applied to ALL rate payers, collected for a fee by local government and yet, not one cent is sent to police or ambulance services. 100% heads to DEFS. The level of waste and mis-management is real and addressed by the Auditor General, but nothing is ever done.
In Victoria their ESL has increased 100% on top of a vast array of increased and new taxes.
Realign all policy in and around State Forests.
Locking people out is not managing the forests or educating people.
Free parking at public hospitals.
No one goes to hospital because they want to.
Nurses on shift also have to pay.
The solution is paid for by a reduction in a bloated health bureaucracy.
Federal Government
Abolish the Life-time Pension for politicians.
Significantly reduce the size of the bureaucracy.
Reform the work-place health and safety framework nationally.
We all agree safety is a priority, but there is a massive difference between safety and stupidity.
Realign all policy around National Parks. for example:
At the moment you can’t take a dog, light a fire or fly a drone in a national park. What’s next?
Peel back the entire Marine bio-Regional Planning Policy (Oceans Policy) that has allowed 46% of Commonwealth water to be deemed a marine protected area.
Acknowledge we have the most advanced fisheries management practices in the world.
Pelagic fish migrate. Scientists argue that fishing them is healthy.
Open access within a more robust management framework.
Hold people genuinely accountable for doing the wrong thing.
Treat commercial fishermen not as hunters and gatherers, but as PRIMARY PRODUCERS like land based farmers.
Re-align food security measures. Currently NSW imports 82% of its total seafood requirement. It’s nonsense.
Revisit the Henry Review into taxation with a specific focus on the introduction of a flat tax.
Streamline and peel back Industrial Relations legislation.
Challenge surgeon based peak industry groups and question why - due to professional closure - they refuse to admit more surgeons (orthopaedic as an example for infants) due to wanting to control the market and keep their salaries high.
Financial services reform.
Currently those who really need financial planning advice, can’t afford it as financial planners are reluctant to take you on if you have less that $1M to invest.
The sheer level of compliance for financial planners is stifling.
There needs to be a reset, where fraudulent financial planners go to jail for 20 years not 2 years.
++++++++++ more policies will evolve but the strategy to deliver will not change.
Neutrality
Tired of politics? Yeah so were we. So rather than get caught up in the nonsense we decided to sit within the system but in a positive and disruptive way. No one has done what we seek to achieve. But we do so with an unequivocal commitment to being 100% independent of any group, actor, politician, corporate entity or political party. This is reinforced by the fact that none of our staff, academics or writers are a current member of a political party. You’re not interested in our prejudices. All you seek, and deserve, is a fresh approach that you understand and trust.
Transformative
Whilst we explain and translate complex policy in a way you understand and through a standardised and consistent format, we also have an entire division where we allow YOU to propose solutions. This is what we call our Projects Team. In here we take complex ideas, condense them down and propose solutions. We believe it’s crucial to sit outside of the political ‘bubble’ where actors criticise each other’s ideas for no apparent reason. To the contrary, we take a transformative approach and ask the ‘…why not?’ For example, who around the world does it better and what can we learn from them? And are there policy designs /solutions that are not only transformative, but that provide a brighter more prosperous future?
Young at Heart
Whilst we are driven by the future, you belong with us if you see yourself YOUNG AT HEART.
Our first ever paid member was Neville from Bunbury in Western Australia. Neville is a navy veteran and loved the concept so much, he signed up. Neville is 82 years old.
Positive and Fresh
The world is becoming complex and then you overlay this with constant negativity. It’s draining. But why is it so hard to develop a positive, vibrant and fresh political voice? At The Par’ty we have a clear mandate to present our analysis, policy and associated solutions in a positive light. We know many Australians have had a ‘gut full’ of politics and just want a fresh, vibrant and accurate assessment of what is really going on. Moreover, you want to know what the FUTURE looks like. This is why we promise never to criticise an opposing person, political party, or politician. We will always play the issue not the person and in doing so, provide the policy leadership and vision you seek and deserve.
Quality
We DO NOT secure our information from the media. We have our own trained policy analysts and academics who are practical, clever and dedicated to providing you with clarity. We standardise our analysis to ensure consistency, accuracy and to deliver a quality outcome that’s thought provoking. It takes quality work behind the scenes to convince you to think about things differently, and to potentially change the way you see the world.
Representation
When it comes to picking those to represent our brand at an election, we will be starkly different to any other political party. We select based on merit, passion, integrity and the candidates ability and willingness to represent the values we share. WE DON’T DO traditional ‘boys clubs’ and and don’t pick representatives based on someone being a friend of a friend. If you have the commitment to have a GO, you’re a dedicated TEAM PLAYER and you believe in our vision, we’ll back you in. The only thing we ask is that if you’re elected to represent us, then you stay with us, or you relinquish your position totally. If they don’t and choose to stay as an independent, they pay back every cent we invested in them.
Ease of Navigation
We have separated the policy environment into ‘portfolios’ to provide a platform that is easier to navigate based on topic, or your specific interests. We will always be adding portfolios based on feedback but you’ll find the access and layout will never change. Not only is it easy to navigate our website, but the analysis from the very start is identically presented and easily understood.
Get Involved
We’re a grass roots movement driven and run by Australian who seek a more vibrant future. Yes we have strict rules - we must do to maintain discipline, otherwise we’ll be all going off on tangents and The Par’ty will become a basket case overnight. That can’t and will not happen. In saying this, our members and the community drive the movement: it’s YOUR FUTURE so reach out if you would like to get involved. And before you second guess yourself: you don’t have to be a policy guru. We’re not after ‘political cartoon characters’, we want team players who are passionate about changing the future.
How is policy designed, structured and implemented?
Policy is a science. We study it at school and in universities. It’s a complex stand-alone field that is often diluted by various actors who have influence, power or motive. We elect politicians in essence to be the ‘policy actors’. They guide, shape and design policy - rightly or wrongly - and move on to allow others to take their place. But they are the face of what we call the ‘policy cycle’.
Before you delve into the analysis, take some time to read our POLICY 101 page. We guarantee after you do, you will never view the political system and the word ‘POLICY’ the same again.
